In 1997 I decided to get deeper understanding of the business administration and I began international marketing studies at Turku School of Economics and Business Administration.
However, in 2001 I finally realized the fact that the city of Turku is not located close enough to Helsinki for studies and therefore I was forced to find another solution. And the solution was MBA at the Helsinki University of Technology, decision based on the combination of very high quality and flexibility of the studies.
1995 - 1998 I worked for IVO Power Engineering as an Application Engineer designing an IT-system to a power plant located in St. Petersburg. Related to this project I worked for 2 months in Germany in 1996.
In 1998 I had also for a short time my own company "Web-mainonta Juselius" that designed simple www-pages for small-sized companies.
In 1998 I quit IVO and started to work for Sonera Corporation. In Sonera my first task was to take care of two international fixed network products, "Transit Leased Line" and "Int'l DXX-network", as the Product Sales Manager beeing responsible for all aspects of product management. In 1999 (till the end of year 2000) I was responsible for leading a product development project and business start-up of a brand new int'l IP-traffic wholesale transit product "Global IP" that proved to be very succesfull service in Europe and in Russia. In 2001 (still as the Business Manager) I skipped Global IP in favor of a Private Label service which was a new virtual ISP service for the Finnish markets. And just like with Global IP, I was responsible for leading the product development project and business start-up. In 2002-2004 I was responsible for two teams of systems managers managing Sonera's domestic consumer Internet (router) network and ISP services, like DNS and email platform.
In 2004 I had a chance to reconsider my future career plans and as a result I started to work for Finnish Communications Regulatory Authority (Viestintävirasto) as the Head of Domain Names. Domain Names is responsible for Finnish .fi ccTLD (country code Top Level Domain). The .fi registry consists of fully automated registry system (e.g. registrations), customer service and .fi root DNS system. During the past years Ficora has invested intensively in developing the registry - please have a look at bulletins (in Finnish only). The number of registered .fi domain names is growing rapidly (20-25% annually) and in March 2009 there were more than 203 000 registered .fi domain names. The .fi has a very strong image of beeing secure and truly Finnish choice for Finnish companies and private persons. For example, McAfee's SiteAdvisor has ranked .fi as the world's most secure TLD both in 2007 and 2008. In 2006 Ficora launched a public 8.5.3.e164.arpa ENUM service for production - among the first public ENUM registries in the world.
In 2008 I was elected to the Council of Country Code Names Supporting Organisation (ccNSO) of ICANN .
My hobbies include jogging (three marathons), cycling and a bit more extreme
paragliding.
